WHAT WE ARE DOING

In lieu of the sheer violence, rupture of the social fabric, extreme poverty for so many and high unemployment where over 50% of the youth population do not have a job in Buenaventura, our foundation decided to step in and provide a palpable solution that can alleviate some of unemployment which is leading the youth to join the files of drug trafficking cartels, armed gangs, murders, and unthinkable crimes all over the district spelling over to the whole region and the country itself. We strongly believe that by providing gainful employment is a viable solution to this vicious cycle of violence. We believe that a person who is employed is less likely to commit crimes.

HOW WE ARE DOING IT

Within the general concept of improving the productivity and competitiveness of the textile, clothing, design and fashion cluster in the Colombian Pacific region, it is necessary to simultaneously develop several projects that allow for a rapid and exponential boost in the ecosystem. One of them is the Pacific High Fashion, Cutting and Manufacturing Ecosystem program. This includes training processes starting with basic cutting and sewing courses in the Workshop Schools, with the local support of RAP PACIFICO, Chamber of Commerce of Buenaventura, Movimiento Social Paro Civico de Buenaventura, Escuela Taller de Buenaventura, SuperSubsidio, FonBuenaventura, SENA, Comfandi, and the Mayor’s Office.
